Chapter 67 - The Chairwoman Takes the Field

"I don't bluff, James," I said, stepping closer, my eyes fixed on him with cold contempt. "You spent fifty years hiding in the shadows, using money and bloodlines to bully families, destroy lives, and steal children. But you forgot one simple rule of business."

"And what is that?!" James screamed, pulling a small silver gun from his jacket.

Before he could raise the weapon, Ethan stepped in, striking James’s wrist with a lightning-fast palm strike. The gun clattered across the floor and slid over the edge of the balcony.

Ethan grabbed James by his lapels, lifting the old man off his feet and pinning him against the balcony railing, high above the roaring icy chasm below.

"The rule," Ethan growled into James's terrified face, "is that you never, ever mess with my wife's empire, and you never touch my children."

"Ethan... please... we are blood!" James whimpered, his eyes wide with pure terror as he looked down at the rocks below. "I am your uncle! I can give you the fortune!"

Ethan looked at me, waiting for my word.

I walked up beside my husband, taking Ethan's hand in mine. "We don't need your dirty fortune, James. We built our own empire."

Ethan pulled James back over the railing and threw him hard onto the marble floor, right into the waiting hands of federal agents who stormed the hall from the lower entrances.
