Chapter 27 - An Unbreakable Home

Later that night, after the kids had gone to bed, Ethan and I walked down to the private wooden dock at the edge of the quiet lake.
The stars were out, glittering brightly across the vast black sky, reflecting on the still water below. A cool breeze rustled through the oak trees, but inside Ethan’s embrace, I was completely warm.
"Ten years ago," I murmured softly, resting my head against his chest, listening to the steady, comforting beat of his heart, "I thought my life was over when I walked away from that corporate gala in the rain."
"And ten years ago," Ethan whispered, resting his chin on top of my head, holding me tight against him, "I was a fool who almost lost the only thing that ever mattered."
He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small, framed photo. It was a picture taken that afternoon—Noah, Sophie, Ethan, and me, standing together on the porch, smiling, unbroken, and free.
"Thirty dollars was the price of my mistakes," Ethan said softly, looking into my eyes with an endless, unconditional love. "But this... this family is my redemption."

I leaned up, pressing my lips gently against his in a sweet, tender kiss under the quiet starlight.
The corporate wars were over. The lies were dead. The empire of cold stone and paper stock was gone, replaced forever by a home built on resilience, truth, and a love that could never be broken again.
