Chapter 100 - Unmasking the Ghost

Returning to Chicago felt like waking up from a long, stormy night into brilliant sunshine.

Our lake estate was fully restored, the security fences replaced, and the air filled with the sweet, familiar scent of pine and fresh lake water.

On our first week back, Ethan and I walked into the grand lobby of Sterling-Vance Headquarters. The entire executive board and hundreds of employees stood up, breaking into an overwhelming, joyous applause that echoed through the eighty-story glass tower.

Marcus stepped forward, handing me a leather-bound document stamped with the official seal of the United States Federal Reserve.

"Absolute majority voting control, Chairwoman," Marcus smiled broadly. "No trust codicils, no hidden wives, no ghosts left in the machine. The company is completely, unbreakable yours."

I looked at the document, then turned to Ethan, who stood beside me with his arm wrapped around my waist, his blue eyes shining with infinite love.

"Not just mine," I said softly, looking out at the crowd of loyal employees. "Ours."
