Chapter 55 - Collateral Damage

Restoring our lives wasn't just about financial victories; it was about healing the invisible wounds left behind by months of fear and deception.

Over the next few months, Ethan and I stepped back from the daily rat race of Wall Street. We handed over operational management of Sterling-Vance to Marcus, who proved to be a brilliant, honorable Chief Executive Officer.

We spent our days taking long walks along the shores of Lake Michigan, helping Noah build his science fair projects, and watching Sophie take her first piano lessons.

One evening, as we sat by the fireplace in the living room, Ethan handed me a thick leather binder.

"What's this?" I asked, looking up from my book.

"The Sterling-Vance Global Children's Foundation," Ethan smiled, sitting beside me on the sofa and tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "We took half of the liquidated syndicate assets and poured them into building schools, orphanages, and pediatric medical centers across the world. No child will ever suffer the way Marcus and I suffered growing up."

I looked at the document, tears shining in my eyes. "It's beautiful, Ethan."

"You made this possible, Victoria," he said softly, pressing his forehead against mine. "You showed me that power isn't about control. It's about protecting the people you love."
