Chapter 127 - Digital Siege

At 9:30 AM, our convoy pulled into the underground sovereign parking facility beneath the French Consulate on the Rue du Rhône in downtown Geneva.
The facility was an impenetrable subterranean bunker: two-foot-thick blast doors, biometric security airlocks, and an armed perimeter maintained by French gendarmes wearing combat uniforms and carrying diplomatic protection passes.
Inside the consulate’s private crisis room, Dr. Moreau sat wrapped in a thermal blanket, sipping hot espresso while a medical tech dressed the laceration along his brow.
"Arthur Vance was a visionary, Victoria," Dr. Moreau said, his hands steadying as he looked at the open convent ledger on the table. "He knew Dominic’s lawyers would wait until the statute of limitations on the French adoption had passed before launching their custody claim in Switzerland."
"What did my father leave behind, Doctor?" I asked.
Dr. Moreau reached into his worn leather medical bag, pulled out an antique brass key with a hollow stem, and laid it on the glass table.
"Your father did not simply file adoption papers through the French Supreme Court," Moreau revealed, his eyes bright with vindication. "He created an encrypted biometric contingency repository inside the central safe of the International Red Cross headquarters on the Avenue de la Paix."
Marcus Vance sat up, his fingers freezing over his laptop keyboard. "The Red Cross archives? Under the Geneva Conventions, those archives are completely immune from Swiss judicial subpoena or private seizure."
"Precisely," Moreau nodded. "Inside that deposit box is Hélène’s original intelligence dossier, the frozen umbilical cord blood samples containing pure DNA chains for both twins, and the signed, witnessed video deposition of Hélène naming Victoria Vance as the sole permanent guardian of her children in the event of her death."
"How long to retrieve the deposit box, Marcus?" Ethan asked, checking his watch.
"We have eighty minutes before the hearing begins at the Palace of Nations," Marcus said. "Under Red Cross protocols, Victoria must present the physical key in person accompanied by two registered French diplomatic envoys."
Suddenly, the lights inside the crisis room surged, flickered violently, and died.
The emergency red halogen backup lamps kicked on with a low, mechanical hum.
On the bank of six intelligence monitors mounted along the concrete wall, every single live camera feed, encrypted data stream, and telephone line collapsed into a single, terrifying wall of red static.
Across the main projection screen, bold white text began typing itself across the darkness:
INITIATING PROTOCOL ICARUS.ALL SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS JAMMED.GENEVA MUNICIPAL TRANSIT GRID OVERRIDDEN.YOU WILL NOT REACH THE PALACE OF NATIONS, VICTORIA.THE TWINS BELONG TO STERLING-VANCE.
Ethan walked to the heavy steel door of the bunker, pulled open the armored observation slot, and looked down the underground vehicle ramp leading to the Rue du Rhône.
Three heavy commercial construction dump trucks had just backed into the entrance ramp, dumping forty tons of crushed granite and concrete rubble across the exit, sealing our vehicles inside the mountain rock.
Outside on the street above, the distant, unmistakable screech of approaching armored tires echoed through the ventilation shafts.

Dominic hadn't waited for the court to validate his claim.
He had brought his army to our door.
