Chapter 65 - The Kidnapping

The storm over Zurich was relentless as our private helicopter hovered above the mist-covered Swiss Alps.

Inside The Glass Citadel, high above the rocky crags, Lord James Vance stood at the head of a massive mahogany table. Surrounding him were eight masked members of The Shadow Council, watching live market indexes crumble as they prepared to execute the final takeover of Sterling-Vance.

Bound to a chair in the corner of the room was Marcus, bloody but unbowed. Beside him stood a tiny eight-year-old girl—his daughter, Lily.

"You played a noble game, Marcus," Lord James chuckled, pouring red wine into a crystal glass. "Planting a beacon on the drive? Did you really think I wouldn't scan it?"

Marcus spat blood onto the polished floor. "Ethan and Victoria are coming for you, James. You can't stop them."

"They are too late," James smiled coldly, gesturing to a large monitor on the wall.

The monitor displayed a live video feed of a armored transport vehicle driving through the streets of Chicago. Inside the vehicle sat Noah and Sophie, guarded by our private security team.

"My operatives in Chicago have already intercepted your children's convoy," James sneered. "In ten minutes, Noah will be on a private jet to Zurich. The Vanguard wins, Marcus. It was always written in our blood."

Before James could finish his sentence, the massive glass ceiling of the Citadel shattered into a million sparkling shards!
