Chapter 95 - The Boarding of the Gorgon

The downdraft of the gunship's rotors flattened the spray as we hovered mere feet above the submarine’s slippery steel deck.
I was the first to hit the metal, boots locking onto the magnetized surface. Behind me, six elite Sovereign operators dropped in rapid succession, weapons raised, sweeping the conning tower.
The hatch on the conning tower swung open, and three mercenaries emerged, automatic rifles blazing. Tracers lit the storm.
I dropped to one knee, firing two controlled bursts that sent the first two men sprawling over the side into the unforgiving sea. The third retreated, attempting to pull the hatch shut behind him, but an armor-piercing round from our sniper in the gunship punched clean through the hinge.
"Breaching charge!" I yelled.
One of our operators slapped a magnetic thermal ring around the lock. Three seconds later, white-hot magnesium burned through the steel seals with an ear-splitting hiss.
I kicked the hatch open and dropped into the vertical tube, sliding down the maintenance ladder into the belly of the beast.
The interior smelled of scorched wiring, ozone, and wet iron. As my boots hit the deck plate of the upper corridor, two heavily armored Iron Wolves raised their weapons around the corner. I fired from the hip, driving them backward into the bulkhead before they could squeeze their triggers.

"Mia!" I screamed, my voice echoing through the steel corridors.
From two doors down, the high-pitched shriek of an overcharged electrical fuse rang out, followed by a heavy thud.
