Chapter 3 - The Secret Unraveled

The garden became so quiet you could hear the distant rustle of the wind through the estate’s sprawling oak trees.

Julian slowly turned his head to look at Vanessa. The blind devotion he had worn two years ago—the same devotion that had allowed him to cast me aside while she was pregnant with his supposed heirs—had vanished, replaced by a cold, calculating suspicion.

“Vanessa,” Julian repeated, his voice dangerously low. “Look at me.”

“Julian, don't do this,” she whispered, backing away until the back of her designer gown pressed against the tier of the wedding cake table. “You swore you trusted me.”

“I trusted you with my family name. I trusted you with my dynasty,” Julian said, his breathing shallow as he stepped closer to her. “Evelyn just proved she gave birth to my quadruplets. The genetic math is absolute. So tell me right now—why did your obstetrician’s clinic records from Beverly Hills look so remarkably similar to the ones my father’s legal team quietly sealed three years ago?”

Vanessa’s knees buckled. She didn't deny it anymore; the absolute terror consuming her features was a confession far more powerful than words.

Margaret Whitmore gasped, pressing a trembling hand to her mouth. “Julian... what is she saying? What is the boy talking about?”

“It means, Margaret,” I answered for him, stepping closer to the shattered champagne glass, “that Vanessa wasn't just your son's mistress. She was a professional operative running a long-term paternity fraud scheme for a competing syndicate on the West Coast. Those three boys upstairs? Not a single one of them has a drop of Whitmore blood in their veins.”

The matriarch of the Whitmore empire staggered backward, catching herself against the arm of a terrified groomsman. For a woman who had measured her entire self-worth by the purity of her family’s bloodline, the revelation was nothing short of an execution.

“You... you bitch!” Margaret shrieked, lunging toward Vanessa with claws bared.

Security guards moved instantly, intercepting Margaret before she could physically attack the bride, but the wedding reception had officially descended into absolute, irreversible war.
