Chapter 65 - The Blood Code

The command bunker erupted into chaos. Overhead lighting switched to harsh red emergency strobes as the blast doors sealed themselves shut with heavy pneumatic thuds, trapping Tristan’s elite contractors outside the observation deck.
Tristan frantically slammed his palm onto the primary console, his pale face draining of color as the system rejected his command with a harsh electronic screech.
*ACCESS DENIED. PRIMARY MASTER ROOT REQUIRES ORIGIN TRUSTEE AUTHORIZATION.*
"How is this possible?" Tristan snarled, whipping his head back toward me, his hand reaching into his coat for a sidearm. "I am his genetic firstborn! I was engineered to hold master authority!"
"You were engineered to be a tool, Tristan," I said, walking slowly around the edge of his desk. "Arthur Vance loved only one thing in this world: control. He never would have given total operational power to a son who could turn a private military against him."
I stopped right beside the console. The holographic interface hovered between us, displaying the legal routing code of the original settlement agreement Eleanor Vance had thrown at my feet in London six years ago: *TRUST AGREEMENT #12M-OBSIDIAN-ALPHA.*
"Arthur thought that by giving me twelve million dollars with an encrypted release clause, he was buying my silence forever," I explained, my voice cutting through the wail of the sirens. "What he didn't realize was that under British maritime and trust law, the beneficiary of the origin fund holds executive conservatorship over every auxiliary asset funded by that capital account."
Maya stepped up to the terminal, plugging the Zurich cryptographic drive directly into the master port. "Mom’s signature was the origin trigger. Arthur financed the construction of Sovereign Base Alpha using the auxiliary interest accrued from that very trust. In the eyes of the system’s legal kernel... Mom isn't a trespasser. She’s the legal owner."
Tristan drew his weapon, a high-caliber tactical pistol, leveling it directly at my forehead. His hand trembled slightly—not from fear, but from the unbearable humiliation of having his entire twenty-two-year existence unraveled by a legal trust document.
"It doesn't matter what the computer says, Katherine," Tristan whispered, cocking the hammer. "One bullet through your skull, and the trust defaults to probate. Then I take the boys."
"Pull that trigger, Tristan," Liam said, stepping directly into the line of fire without a second of hesitation, his chest inches from the barrel, "and you die in this bunker alone. The override seals the oxygen valves in four minutes. Only Mom’s voice can cancel the purge."
May you like
Tristan looked from Liam’s unflinching eyes down to the boy’s chest, the absolute conviction of the Vance bloodline mirrored right back at him—not forged in cruelty, but in loyalty to a mother who had fought the world to protect them.
