Chapter 50 - The Obsidian Protocol

The sound of automated trading floor bells clanged below, signaling the catastrophic, total collapse of the Vance dynasty’s private fortune. Within seconds, billions of pounds evaporated from Christian’s accounts, absorbed permanently into the Sovereign Trust held in the names of Leo, Lucas, Liam, and Maya.

"Officers, arrest them," the lead FCA official commanded, stepping forward with an international red warrant. "Eleanor Vance, Christian Vance, you are charged with market manipulation, conspiracy to commit financial terrorism, and the attempted murder of sovereign citizens in Geneva."

"No!" Christian snarled.

Driven by pure madness and the realization that his entire lifetime of preparation had ended in absolute, total ruin, Christian lunged forward with his left arm, drawing a snub-nosed revolver from inside his sling. He ignored the police officers, aiming the weapon directly at my heart from five feet away.

"If I go to hell, Katherine, you're leading the way!" he roared.

Alexander moved instantly, stepping in front of me, his own firearm clearing his holster with lethal precision.

*BANG.*

A shot echoed through the enclosed gallery—loud, sharp, and smelling of cordite.

Christian froze. His eyes rolled down toward his own chest, where a single, perfectly centered bullet hole bloomed through the fabric of his fine Italian suit. The revolver slipped from his lifeless fingers, clattering onto the plush carpet. He collapsed to his knees, then crashed face-first onto the floor, motionless.

Alexander hadn't fired. His gun was still raised, his eyes wide with shock.

The armed London police officers hadn't fired either.

From the shadows of the rear archway behind the gallery—a restricted area requiring Royal clearance—a slow, rhythmic clapping echoed through the stunned silence.

A tall, elderly man stepped into the light. He carried an ebony cane capped with an intricately carved gold lion. His hair was silver, his posture military-straight, and his eyes were an unsettling, piercing shade of pale blue. He wore an antique tailored suit, and pinned to his lapel was a gold crest—an insignia older and far more powerful than the Directorate, an emblem that made Eleanor fall to her knees in pure, petrified terror.

"Magnificent, Katherine," the elderly man said, his voice smooth as silk, carrying a terrifying, ancient gravitas. "Truly magnificent. You dismantled Eleanor’s foolish games with the precision of a true empress."

Eleanor, staring at the old man from the floor, began to tremble uncontrollably, tears streaming down her makeup-streaked face. "You... you were dead... Thirty years ago... they said you were dead..."

The man ignored her completely, stepping over Christian’s body as if it were nothing more than a discarded rag. He walked straight toward me, stopping only inches away, his cold blue eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that sent a chill straight to the marrow of my bones.

"Who are you?" I demanded, refusing to back down, though every protective instinct inside me screamed in warning.

The old man smiled—a thin, predatory smile that made the victory in the room instantly turn to ash.

"I am Arthur Vance," the man whispered. "The true Sovereign Founder. Eleanor and Julian were merely the caretakers I left behind while I built the empire's ultimate foundation in the East. And those four children you protect so fiercely, Katherine... they are not Julian’s heirs."

May you like

Arthur Vance leaned in, his smile vanishing into something merciless and absolute.

"They are mine."
