Chapter 76 - The Northern Haven

Thirty minutes later, the abandoned oil rig was nothing more than a burning silhouette against the stormy horizon.

Deep beneath the swelling waves, *The Revenant* sliced silently through the icy currents of the Norwegian Sea. Inside the submarine’s command bridge, the ambient hum of advanced electronics replaced the howling wind. Warm air circulated through the compartments, and Daniel sat in a communications console chair, his cuts bandaged and an IV line hydrating his battered system.

Emma stood beside the main tactical holotable, watching the encrypted data stream cascading down the monitors. The broadcast of the Genesis Archive had detonated across the civilized world like a financial nuclear warhead.

"BBC and Reuters are leading with it," Viktor reported, tapping a key. "The French government has frozen all Laurent family holdings in Paris and Provence. The Swiss Federal Banking Commission has raided the private vaults in Geneva. Interpol red notices have been issued for every member of the Directorate’s council."

"And my mother?" Emma asked quietly. "What are they saying about Evelyn?"

"She's officially an international fugitive," Viktor replied. "Her diplomatic passports have been revoked. Her private flight corridors are closed. The only place left for her to run is outside international jurisdiction—beyond the 80th parallel north."

Daniel pulled a flash drive from the pocket of his torn shirt, tossing it onto the console. "She dropped this when they moved me onto the sub. It's the coordinates for the redoubt. But Emma... you need to see what's inside the second partition."

Emma plugged the drive into the Laurent sovereign terminal. A single encrypted folder unfolded on the screen, labeled: *PROJECT CINDERELLA - 2016*.

As Emma read the initial lines, her breath caught in her throat. Her blood ran colder than the Arctic waters outside.

"Lily's birth..." Emma whispered, her fingers hovering over the glass screen. "It wasn't an accident. Evelyn tried to terminate the pregnancy through private clinics in Zurich before Lily was even born."

"Evelyn didn't just hate Lily because she wasn't of 'pure' aristocratic match," Daniel said, his voice thick with repressed fury. "She hated her because of the clause in your father’s last will. The entire Laurent empire skips a generation. The wealth wasn't yours, Emma. And it certainly wasn't Evelyn's. It belongs entirely to the firstborn granddaughter who reaches her eighth birthday with her biological mother by her side."
