Chapter 3 - The Fatal Accident

To completely understand the massive, earth-shattering magnitude of the Father's reaction, one had to look back exactly three weeks to the darkest, most horrifying night in the history of his powerful family.

Caroline was the eldest daughter. She was brilliant, fiercely loyal, and the undeniable, legally appointed primary heir to her father's massive, multi-billion-dollar corporate empire. She was the one who was supposed to inherit the CEO title, the vast estates, and the priceless family heirlooms—including the massive emerald necklace.

But three weeks ago, late at night on a dark, winding mountain road, Caroline was involved in a catastrophic, entirely devastating car accident.

According to the official police reports, her luxury sedan had violently veered off the road, crashing deep into a wooded ravine. By the time the emergency responders arrived, the vehicle was completely engulfed in a massive, unstoppable inferno. The authorities told the grieving family that the intense heat of the fire had completely destroyed everything inside.

They told the devastated Father that his brilliant, beautiful eldest daughter had burned alive in the wreckage.

There was a massive, highly publicized, closed-casket funeral. The Father had completely broken down, his spirit entirely crushed by the loss of his beloved child.

In the immediate, chaotic aftermath of the tragedy, the younger sister—the blonde Bride currently screaming in her white strapless dress—had aggressively swooped in. She played the role of the grieving sibling perfectly, manipulating her heartbroken, heavily medicated father into signing over massive portions of the corporate estate and demanding they rush her wedding to "bring some joy back to the family."

She thought her path to absolute wealth and power was completely, permanently cleared.
