Chapter 13 - the encrypted ledgers
Thomas unlatched the brass locks of the brown briefcase with a sharp, echoing snap. He didn't waste a single second on corporate pleasantries or polite diplomatic warnings.
Instead, he dumped a massive, thick stack of encrypted financial ledgers directly onto the center of the mahogany conference table, sliding them toward the terrified board members.
"These documents detail every illegal corporate bribe, offshore shell company, and illicit merger you authorized over the past five years," Thomas stated, his deep voice slicing through the tense silence. "Including the three million dollars wired to offshore accounts to silence the police investigators."
The directors stared at the documents in sheer, unadulterated terror. The ironclad evidence completely exposed their treasonous conspiracy to illegally seize control of the multi-billion-dollar tech trust fund.
Caroline leaned over the table, her dark eyes boring straight into the soul of the lead director who had mentored her since her first day at the company.
"You traded my life for corporate leverage," Caroline whispered, her voice vibrating with a lethal, controlled fury. "And you failed."
