Chapter 65

i drove like a madwoman, blowing through red lights and weaving down narrow alleyways until i was certain no headlights were following me. when i finally smashed the truck into elias's garage, he was already waiting with the metal gate half-open. i tossed him the pharmacy bag, and we rushed back into the reinforced office. mia was sitting on the floor, holding the little boy's hand as he shivered violently. elias crushed the pills into a glass of water, gently lifting the boy's head to make him drink. "we can't wait for midnight," elias muttered, checking the security feeds on his monitors. "that hitman will have local cops combing the streets in ten minutes. we leave right now." he threw a dark canvas duffel bag over his shoulder and tossed me a set of keys to the armored delivery van waiting out back.
