Chapter 48

Marcus, stripped of his influential allies and bleeding resources, was forced into a desperate move. His intelligence network had managed to track one of Ryan's financial transfers to a specific bank in Milan. It was a faint trail, but Marcus took the bait.

He gathered his remaining loyal mercenaries, a heavily armed force of seasoned killers, and descended upon the bank. They moved swiftly, securing the perimeter and storming the building, expecting to corner Ryan or at least find vital information on his whereabouts.

But Ryan wasn't there.

As Marcus stood in the bank manager's office, interrogating the terrified staff, a sleek, black smartphone left on the desk suddenly rang. Marcus hesitated, then picked it up.

"You're losing your touch, Marcus," Ryan's voice echoed through the speaker, calm and chilling. "You walked right into it."

Before Marcus could respond, the heavy steel security doors of the bank slammed shut, locking his men inside. The bank's automated security systems, hacked and commandeered by Silas, deployed thick, debilitating tear gas into the main lobby.

Panic ensued among the mercenaries as they struggled to breathe, their vision obscured by the stinging gas.

"This is a distraction," Marcus growled, coughing as he pulled a gas mask from his tactical vest. "He's not here."

He was right. Ryan was fifty miles away, standing in the shadows of a dilapidated, industrial port facility in Genoa. He had leaked the financial transfer to draw Marcus's main force away from his true objective.

The port facility was Marcus's last remaining logistical hub, the final staging ground for his operations. It was heavily guarded, but the bulk of his experienced fighters were currently trapped in Milan.

Ryan, clad in his tactical black gear and armed with his suppressed weapons, moved through the rusted shipping containers like a ghost. He eliminated the perimeter guards silently, his movements fluid and deadly. He wasn't just dismantling an empire; he was hunting the man who had dared to threaten his daughters. The final piece of the puzzle was inside the main warehouse, waiting for him.
