Chapter 33

ryan kept the pistol hidden behind the doorframe, his expression an impenetrable mask of cold authority. "what is it, victor?" ryan asked, his voice dead flat. victor’s eyes darted around the room, trying to peer past ryan's broad shoulders. "just doing my rounds, boss. the perimeter alarms glitched in the south corridor. wanted to make sure you and lily were secure." the south corridor. the exact place lily had found the girl. ryan forced a tight nod. "we are fine. get the system fixed by morning." as victor turned to leave, ryan noticed a faint smear of white drywall dust on the sleeve of victor's custom suit. the exact same dust that covered mia. ryan closed the door and locked it, his grip on the gun tightening until his knuckles turned white. victor was the traitor. the man he trusted with his life was the one keeping his niece like a caged animal. ryan walked to the closet and opened it, looking at the two little girls huddled together. he wasn't just going to fire victor. he was going to burn the entire syndicate to the ground.
