Chapter 28 - The Bloodline Protocol

The silence in the grand ballroom was so profound that the soft ticking of the monumental pendulum clock above the dais sounded like thunder.

Marcus Vance’s face turned an ashen shade of gray, the champagne flute in his hand slipping from his fingers and shattering against the marble floor. Victoria de Saint-Cloud gripped the edge of the podium, her knuckles turning bone-white, her haughty composure cracking for the first time.

"Security!" Marcus screamed, his voice breaking into a panicked shrill. "Detain those intruders! They are armed international fugitives!"

Before the private guards could draw their weapons, four Canadian Royal Federal Officers stationed at the exits raised their hands, their commanding inspector stepping forward with an open diplomatic warrant.

"Stand down, Vance," the inspector ordered. "This is an open consular forum under international treaty law. Any person claiming direct bloodline petition has the right of presentation before the magistrates."

I guided Lily down the sweeping marble steps, step by step, the eyes of the global elite burning into us. Lily never wavered. Her small shoes clicked rhythmically against the stone, her eyes fixed directly on Victoria.

"You said my daughter was dead, Marcus," I said, my voice echoing off the vaulted ceilings. "You forged police reports, hired hit squads across two continents, and tried to murder an eight-year-old child in an American train yard."

"She is an impostor!" Victoria spat, venom dripping from every syllable. "Sarah’s child died in Zurich! This American mercenary found an orphan to usurp our family’s seat!"

"Is that so?" I reached the base of the dais and gently lifted Lily onto the platform before the three Swiss magistrates.

I took the floral handbag from Lily’s hands and set it upon the polished oak table, directly beside the golden treaty ledger. With a swift movement, I reached into the bag and pulled out the titanium heraldic plate, slamming it onto the table. Then, I set the blackened antique iron key beside it.

The chief magistrate, an elderly Swiss judge with white hair, gasped. He adjusted his spectacles, his hands trembling as he touched the iron key. "The Key of the Seven Seals... Arthur Vance claimed it was lost in the Alps."

"It wasn't lost," Lily said, her clear, youthful voice piercing the room. "My mommy gave it to my daddy. Because she knew you were all thieves."

The room erupted into gasps and furious whispers.

"That key means nothing without the sovereign biometric sequence!" Marcus snarled, pulling a small silver transmitter from his pocket. "Guards, clear the hall! Clear it now!"

"Lily," I said calmly, ignoring the guards converging around the perimeter. "Put your hand on the plate."

Lily stepped forward and pressed her small palm against the cold titanium plate of the floral bag's core.

A soft, azure light pulsed beneath her skin. The microscopic sensors within the metal analyzed the living Saint-Cloud DNA, matching the bloodline frequency stored within the Geneva sovereign satellite network.

A sharp, chime sounded from the magistrate’s altar. The massive digital screen behind the podium flashed green, wiping out Marcus Vance’s name and replacing it in colossal, golden letters:
