Chapter 5 - The Unraveling

Chaos erupted in the ballroom. Investors were standing up, demanding answers, pulling out their tablets to check Whitmore Renewal’s audited liabilities.
"Mr. Whitmore," a prominent venture capitalist from New York shouted from the third row, his voice booming over the uproar. "Your pitch deck claimed this resort partnership was fully locked in by the Hart Family Trust. Is that true?"
Grant couldn't speak. His tongue felt like ash. He looked desperately toward the wings, but Thomas Ellery had just walked onto the stage, flanked by two resort security officers carrying thick legal binders.
Ellery stepped up to the microphone, his voice calm, authoritative, and devastatingly precise.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Ellery announced to the stunned room. "As the General Manager of Monarch Cove, I am instructed by the sole controlling owner of the Hart Family Trust to clarify the status of this partnership."
Ellery turned his gaze directly to Grant, then to the stunned investors.
"There is no partnership," Ellery declared clearly. "Whitmore Renewal’s application was rejected by the board three days ago due to severe financial insolvency, creative plagiarism, and a fundamental breach of corporate ethics. Furthermore, effective immediately, Monarch Cove is issuing a permanent restraining order banning Grant Whitmore and Sienna Blake from all resort properties for trespassing and misuse of executive amenities."
Patricia Whitmore collapsed back into her seat, clutching her chest, while Douglas stared blankly ahead, realizing their family name had just been obliterated in real-time. Mallory buried her face in her hands, completely disgraced.
Sienna turned on Grant with a snarl of pure fury, shoving his shoulder. "You said she was a stupid housewife! You said she’d never find out!"

Grant didn't even look at her. He fell to his knees near the podium, looking up at Evelyn with tears streaming down his face. "Evelyn... please. I was stupid. I was weak. We built this together—"
"We didn't build anything together, Grant," Evelyn looked down at him with quiet, immovable strength. "You built a house of cards on top of my father’s legacy. And today, the wind finally caught it."
