Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Six months later.

The morning sun shone brightly over the Caldwell Estate. The dark clouds that had hung over the house for years were finally gone. Senator Sterling and his daughter Sabrina had been sentenced to life in prison without parole, and their entire criminal empire had been dismantled.

Out on the green lawn overlooking the ocean, nine-year-old Lily was laughing, kicking a soccer ball toward a small net. Her cheeks were rosy, her strength fully recovered, and her smile bright.

"Pass it here, Lily!" Grace called out with a smile.

Grace was wearing comfortable clothes—no maid’s uniform, no tactical gear. She was now the head of Global Security for Caldwell Shipping, as well as the newly appointed trustee of the Caldwell Family Foundation.

Lily kicked the ball cleanly to Grace, who caught it neatly under her foot.

Ethan walked down the patio steps, holding two glasses of fresh lemonade. He handed one to Grace, his eyes filled with warmth and deep admiration.

"She hasn't laughed like that since her mother died," Ethan said quietly, watching his daughter play. "You gave her back her life, Grace. You gave both of us our lives back."

Grace looked at Ethan, feeling a warmth she hadn't felt in years. "Clara was my friend, Ethan. Protecting her family was my duty. But now... it’s where I belong."

Ethan stepped closer, reaching out to softly take Grace’s hand. "Then stay. Not as a bodyguard, and not as an employee. Stay as family."

Lily ran up to them, breathlessly grabbing both of their hands and pulling them toward the grass. "Come on, you two! You promised we were going to play together!"

Grace looked down at Lily, then up at Ethan, her heart finally at peace.

"I'm right behind you, Lily," Grace said with a bright smile.

Hand in hand, the three of them walked into the sunlight, leaving the shadows of the past behind forever.
