Chapter 6 - A New Horizon

A year after the night that changed everything, the grand reopening gala of Sterling House was held on the sprawling lawns overlooking Lake Michigan.
The evening air was balmy, filled with the soft strains of a live jazz band and the laughter of dozens of families whose lives had been rebuilt through the foundation’s outreach programs.
Emma stood on the terrace in a stunning emerald-green silk gown that caught the evening light. No one was pulling at her clothes. No one was whispering behind her back. No one was holding up black mirrors to record her humiliation.
Instead, the guests—philanthropists, civic leaders, and survivors—raised their glasses in a silent, respectful toast to the woman who had turned pain into purpose.
Her father walked up beside her, raising his champagne flute.
“To new beginnings,” Charles said softly.
Emma touched her glass to his, her eyes shining with absolute peace and unshakeable strength.
