Chapter 6 - The True Legacy

One year later.

The historic chapel overlooking Lake Michigan was bathed in golden afternoon sunlight.

The area was filled with hundreds of guests—community leaders, port workers, city officials, and former syndicate families who had transitioned into legitimate business partners under Christopher’s leadership.

Standing at the altar in a sharp navy tuxedo was Christopher. His posture was tall, proud, and radiant with an unshakeable joy.

Standing in the front row was Florence, sitting in her armchair, wearing a exquisite lavender lace dress, tears of pure happiness shining in her eyes.

The heavy wooden chapel doors opened.

Walking down the white silk aisle, holding a bouquet of white peonies and lavender, was Hannah. She wore a breathtaking, floor-length ivory lace gown, her dark hair pinned back with her mother’s restored pearl comb, her face glowing with radiant beauty under the stained-glass windows.

As she reached the altar, Christopher stepped forward, taking both of her hands in his, looking into her eyes with a love that had been forged in the darkest waters and emerged pure as refined gold.

Our pastor smiled warmly at the crowd.

"We are gathered here today," the pastor spoke, his voice echoing cleanly across the chapel, "to celebrate a love that brought truth out of darkness, healed old wounds, and restored peace to two great families."

Christopher held Hannah’s hands tight, looking straight into her eyes.

"Hannah," Christopher spoke his vows, his voice clear, strong, and ringing with deep emotion. "I spent my life believing that wealth and power were the only things that could protect the people I loved. You came into my home and showed me that true power is found in kindness, courage, and unconditional love. I give you my life, my name, and my heart, forever."

Hannah squeezed his hands, tears of pure, soaring happiness running down her cheeks.

"Christopher," Hannah spoke her vows softly, her voice steady and clear. "You turned my father's memory into a legacy of justice, and you gave me a home when I thought I was alone in the world. I promise to love you, stand beside you, and walk through every day of our lives together."

"By the power vested in me," the pastor declared, "I now pronounce you husband and wife! Christopher, you may kiss your bride!"

Christopher pulled Hannah close into his arms, lifting her gently into the air as his lips met hers in a breathtaking, beautiful kiss.

The entire chapel erupted into thunderous, standing applause, cheers, and whistle blasts as Christopher and Hannah turned to face their family and friends—hand in hand, unbroken, victorious, and completely free.
